Garden Square Chocolatier was born in the heart of Pella, just steps from Central Park—once known as Garden Square—a place gifted to our town by founder Dominie Scholte as a space for gathering, celebration, and beauty in every season.

As a young girl, I would visit the old Soda Jerk in Pella with my grandma, always ordering a chocolate milkshake and savoring the sweetness of the moment. I dreamed of one day owning a business in those same four walls. Today, that dream lives on through Thistles Flower Market and Garden Square Chocolatier, located just across the street from the original Garden Square. The view from our windows reminds us daily of the legacy that inspires us—heritage, community, and seasonality.

Inspired by the joy of sharing something sweet and the rhythm of the seasons, our European-style chocolates are made in small batches right here in Pella. Each bar and truffle reflects the beauty of nature’s cycles and the spirit of togetherness—just like the garden that inspired our name.
